Self Graded Quiz:

I was confused on the self graded quiz about the difference in circuit sketches between the first and second one. I thought that any changes having to do with inputs and outputs would mostly be reflected in the code and not the circuit. I also wished that we were given the answers to the self graded quizzes so that we can actually see what the correct answers are (although I guess we do go over them in class).

Lab: Tone Output Using an Arduino

While I had some difficulty at first getting this to work, Sammy showed me that the diagram was actually a little bit off, and once we reconnected the second pin (power) to my sensor everything was able to work well! I was not able to test multiple sensors for different tones because of time, but my group will be exploring that in our project for this next week.

Lab: Servo Motor Control with an Arduino

I had a lot of frustration with this lab because my port would sometimes not show up. Despite me turning my computer on and off several times, unplugging everything, etc, it still wouldn't show up and nobody had a solution for me. Miraculously, it came back the last time I tried plugging my Arduino in and my servo was working in a matter of seconds.

Group Project: Robot with a Heartbeat

For my group project, we are deciding to make a cardboard robot that has force sensor on its hands, one that controls movement in the hand and one that controls the light inside of its "heart", which will slowly turn on and off to simulate a heartbeat. We are also hoping to add a board that the robot stands on which will have buttons that play different tunes and turn on different lights. We are a little unsure about how we are going to be able to power everything (is the Arduino strong enough?) and what our alternatives are for battery sources if the Arduino is unable to. We also purposely chose a project that is flexible in how much we can add and subtract, since in only a week we don't know for sure how much we will be able to accomplish.

The very beginning sketch of our robot friend and us beginning to see how our breadboard setup would look for the robot's "stage":
